The Rock ‘n’ Roll Review - Episode 12 - Anna Ash
Monday Jan 14, 2019
Monday Jan 14, 2019
Radiokeys members Stewart and Emily are back and fresh off their gig in Novato to discuss an artist close to Emily’s heart, Los Angeles based singer/songwriter/guitarist Anna Ash. They focus on her 2016 album Floodlights, which showcases her vulnerable lyricism, her haunting, aching soprano, and her bands’ subtle, yet powerful performance. They also dive into an interview with Anna herself about her journey from Michigan to Oakland to Los Angeles, the folks that encouraged her to pursue music, and her new album coming out this year.
They also ramble on a bit about on how to react when the audience requests you play Queen, how Anna and Emily were both waitressing and playing music in Oakland at the same time, the bravery it takes and the loneliness that follows from moving to a new city, and how songwriters should embrace their “discomfort zone.”
