While continuing to shelter in place at their Oakland apartment, Emily and Tom get together to discuss what musicians are doing to keep the spirit of live shows going and stay connected to their communities in creative, virtual ways from their homes. They talk about playing their first Zoom gig as part of a virtual happy hour, then they go through a list of some musicians that have blessed us by releasing new music during Quarantine such as the Strokes, Fiona Apple, and Nathaniel Rateliff. There’s even some Rock ’n’ Roll Review alumni that just released surprise music, including Sam Doores and Charley Crockett!
Emily and Tom then go on to discuss a very new and exciting project developing within the Concord music scene. Tom is fresh off of a meeting with some fellow Concord musicians who are attempting to put together a virtual music festival with the city of Concord, called Concord Couch Concerts!
Emily and Tom also reflect on ways they’ve tried to stay positive, and how musical projects are helping them keep a sense of routine and feel useful. They wrap it up by talking about what Radiokeys is working on, including our weekly song releases as part of our “Shelter Sessions” recording project, developing our YouTube channel, and various video projects!
You can find the Shelter Sessions at our BandCamp page! New releases every Wednesday.
